When I get tagged by @blanketyblank2 I think "Is this it? Is this the day I do a midnight video?" But no, you guys dodged that bullet yet again. He tagged me for that #Heritage thing everyone else has done. OK, you might need to take notes to keep up with this. On my dad's side, my grandmother was from Ireland, and we always thought my grandfather was Polish. However we recently found out his mother was Russian, they got married in Poland and emigrated to the states. On my mom's side, my grandfather was from Sweden, while my grandmother was half German (Bavarian) and we thought half English, but that pesky Genealogy... Turns out there's some Scottish and Irish mixed in with the English heritage. My last name is Americanized Polish. It was originally Fialkowski, although I have relatives in Poland who spell it Fijalkowski. My grandfather and his brother decided to change their last name because they "had trouble finding work with a Polish last name." So, in the 50s, Grandpa changed his last name to Fial, and Uncle Matt changed his to Fisk. Why they thought German last names would be better than Polish (in Chicago, no less) is beyond me. I think I'm the last one to do this, but if you haven't, feel free. by theangrymailguy
