Chehel Sotoun (40 columns) pavilion in Isfahan was built by the Safavid monarch, Shah Abbas II. Once used as a reception hall for foreign emissaries, the pavilion’s 20 columns are doubled when reflected in the pool in front of the building creating the illusion of 40 columns. #Mysteriousiran #Iran #Isfahan #palace #architecture #heritage #travel #instadaily #everydayiran #MiddleEast Photo by: @phalaenopsis by toirancom
