http://ift.tt/1cvmSyB This is how my #mama used to do my #hair when I was a little girl. She'd take black string and hook it up like the girls with the solid teal and striped pink shirts. I didn't really appreciate it then because at the time I was in a predominantly white elementary school and was a painfully shy awkward child. My hair brought unwanted attention and questions that I didn't have answers for. Instead of being #proud of my #heritage I wanted to be like everyone else. This roller coaster ride we call life is #amazing and my #perceptions of #myself #definitely have changed over the years. Now, as a #grown #woman I rock my #bantu #knots with #pride, answer questions openly, and #accept the compliments graciously. #naturalhair #teamnatural #loveyourhair #loveyourself #Nigerianhair #Africanhair #blackhair #Godgiven #braids #bantuknots #afros #locs #dreadlocks #Irock #natural by idi_irocdisart
