The design of St. Joseph Church in Las Piñas hews to the earthquake baroque style that was predominant in the Philippines during the Spanish era. It was designed by the talented Fr. Diego Cera, who also built the world-famous bamboo organ that is still used today. The retablo of the church is simple, unlike the over-the-top and extravagant structures expected in baroque churches. The ceiling of the church is covered by bamboo, a very unique feature that is not found in any other church. The building was used as a refuge for soldiers during World War II. The monument for Fr. Diego Cera in the church grounds was made by National Artist Napoleon Abueva. #church #catholic #monument #heritage #laspiñas #manila #earthquakebaroque #baroque #choosephilippines #philippines #itsmorefuninthephilippines by sigulanon
